Mitchell got a huge left from goalkeeper Josh Berres on Wenesday night, as a crucial save in the 95th minute, midway through the second overtime, and then a pair of stops in a penalty shootout allowed the Mustangs to advance to the first boys soccer state championship game in school history with a 3-1 shootout victory after it had played Pembroke Pines Charter to a 0-0 tie through 100 minutes of regulation and overtime.

 | U11 Boys Win At Disney - Wednesday, February 17, 2010The U-11 Boys team claimed the Disney President's Daytournament winning all their games to finish 5-0 for the tournament. The boysgave up only 3 goals all tournament and faced tough competition from both Krazeteams they faced beating one in group play and the other in the championshipgame.  | HC United Older Teams Dominate - Tuesday, February 16, 2010HC United dominated play atthe Score Winter Showcase. President’sDay is the kickoff for the HC United older teams and as Score Showcase began,the HCU teams went wild. The boy’s teamswent 9-0-3 on Saturday and did not lose a game.The girls program featured equally as well as many teams put themselvesin great position to win their respective groups on Sunday. On Sunday every boy’s team advanced toquarter final play. As Sunday afternoonapproached, the knockout rounds began.Certainly the highlight of the weekend had to be when the U15 Girls knockedoff State Champ and Regional powerhouse Ponte Vedre Storm 3-1. This was a very good win for George Fotopoulousand his U15 Girls. Cindy Schofield andher U14 Girls team won the Overall Championship amid some great competition andboth Sims’ U17 Boys and Jones’ U18Boys lost in their respective finals. This was a tremendous way tobegin our preparation for State Cup and the college coaches attending for the olderteams were very impressed with the play of our senior players. Competing in the Super Y League is an opportunity for high-level, competitive players to compete over the summer months with direct benefits: improving their technical level of play and speed of execution along with gaining exposure to intense, higher levels of competition from teams outside of the Tampa Bay area.
